Over the last few months, Need for Speed (2015) has been drip feeding lots of cool free DLC to keep fans returning to the game. It started with two legend's cars - Ken Block's Hoonicorn and Morohoshi's Diablo. Then there was Eddie's Challenge - essentially more events in the world with a custom Skyline to unlock. But this was only the beginning.
More recently EA introduced competitive multiplayer lobbies, drag events (both of which should have been included from the start), and the ability to share wraps. This has been by far the best feature of the game. Everyone has the ability to upload their custom wraps to the community for anyone to download and apply to their own vehicles. I have spent many hours trying to cobble together an awesome livery but they've never been quite what I intended...
Now that wrap sharing is available, look at the transformations to my rides!
I did enjoy using the wrap editor but it's become a little obsolete now, knowing the amazing wraps available by the community.
The latest update to the game has introduced two Hot Rods. A classic Ford from 1932, which looks brilliant, but performance wise isn't great. The other is one of the most ridiculous, incredible cars to feature in any racing game let alone Need for Speed. The Beck Kustoms F132 is basically a Hot Rod crossed with a Formula 1 car. It's the most expensive vehicle in the game, and rightly so. This thing looks like a beast.
It's not possible to buy any performance parts as its already maxed out in every way. However, visually, this car can still be fully customised with the wrap editor. And hence wraps can also be downloaded from the community.
Look at the genius work applied here. Click to enlarge (creator in footnote).
I decided to pick the Hot Wheels wrap as this really is a Hot Wheels car. Here is how the thing performs. Listen to the noise and check the speed.
So as you can see the development team at Ghost have made some fantastic additions to Need for Speed. Any fan of the PS2 era of the series will love this game, and I believe it will reign as the best game for visual car customisation for a long time.
