E3 2017 - Bethesda

14 June 2017

Bethesda were once again at E3 for their third year, at the awkward time of 9pm PT. That means midnight for anyone on the east coast of the US, and 5am in the UK. They kicked things off with two games getting the virtual reality treatment. DOOM VFR and Fallout VR. The 'F' in DOOM's title is either "Frickin'" or something worse...

The next meaningful announcement was Creation Club to launch this Summer. Essentially curated content and mods from the developer community, initially for Fallout and Skyrim. The latter was also shown on Nintendo Switch with Link's outfit and the Master Sword from The Legend Of Zelda, available for your Skyrim character.

A brand new Dishonored game was also revealed called Dishonored: Death Of The Outsider. I initially thought this was DLC for Dishonored 2, but it is a full standalone title with a retail release, available on 15th September.

Next was the expected announcement of The Evil Within 2. A very weird freakish trailer with lots of weird white goo... I'm sure fans of the first game will be excited for this, but its certainly not for me. This appropriately launches on Friday 13th October.

And then there was only one game left to reveal. A short show from Bethesda but ending with the best trailer - one of the strangest I've ever seen, especially the first 2 minutes. This is Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus.

I never played Wolfenstein: The New Order but heard very good things about its story and the gun gameplay. I'll be intrigued to see how this game fares as it's due to launch right in the middle of this packed Autumn, on 27th October.
